2011 Hispanic Advent Celebration December 16-23
2011 Hispanic Advent Celebration (December 16-23)
Commencing on December 16th and ending on Christmas Eve, we will be having our first 9-day Hispanic Advent Celebration, a home-to-home celebration to preach Christ and the true meaning of Christmas in a Latin American context. Each day, the celebration will be held in the home of a different Hispanic member of the church for approximately an hour and half, and will consist of singing some Hispanic Christmas Carols (complemented with some instruments made by the children), eating some home-made food from a Spanish-speaking country, and most importantly, worshipping the Lord among our diverse brothers and sisters. As stated in Ephesians 2:19-22 (ESV),
“19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”
Considering that it is the first year being held, the celebration will be small in terms of the members that will be involved. Lord willing, we hope to extend this Hispanic Advent Celebration to the entire congregation for December 2012.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
