Missions Conference

"UNTIL ALL HAVE HEARD: PRAY-GIVE-GO"

Highlights

Missions Conference 2012 “Until All Have Heard: Pray-Give-Go” was uplifting! Mitchell Road came together as a community, gave thanksgiving for those who serve, and continues to seek the heart of God and his mission for our lives.Missions Conference is beloved time for all members of Mitchell Road.     Throughout the weekend, we were reminded that the Bible tells us that God is on a mission.  We were encouraged to continue on in our mission with God!

Beginning on Thursday evening, members came together for the International Covered Dish Dinner.  Dishes were prepared by members, and represented many countries around the world.
Tables lined the Fellowship Hall, and food was bountiful.   It was truly a sight to behold!  Fellowship between members and missionaries was uplifting and joyous.  At 6:45, Peculiar People performed, offering an entertaining perspective on life in the Mission field.  Peculiar People is a talented husband-wife duo with a background in theatre. They performed multiple times throughout the weekend, adding laughter and insight to the subjects of missions and service.  Children’s Missions Conference began with engaging testimonies geared toward inspiring children.  Missionaries sat on stage during Missionary Kaleidoscope and answered questions from the audience regarding their individual ministries. Many members say this is the highlight of the Conference.

After a communion service on Friday with Pastor Andy Lewis, an array of soups and sandwiches were served as Mitchell Road staff members, various missionaries, and members listened to two inspiring testimonies from the Fiol’s and the Williams.

Friday evening began with a catered dinner in the Fellowship Hall, followed by Children’s Missions Conference activities, and worship with Pastor John Wood. Pastor John Wood preached to a captive audience setting the tone for the event.  The theme for Friday evening was: "The Personal Dimension of Mission: Life in the Spirit" (Romans 8:1-17).  He encouraged all to see their roles as missionaries in their own personal stories.   Testimonies were heard from three missionaries (Scott D, the Robelot’s, and Aileen Coleman). We are thankful for Aileen Coleman’s 56 years of service! 54 of which have been in Jordan.   Afterward, members were invited to praise, worship and pray together.

On Saturday, the Deacons sponsored a free Pancake Breakfast at 9:00am, as testimonies were heard from Sam and Elizabeth Goodwin.  Kingdom Kids sang for the enjoyment of all.  Break-out seminars began at 9:45, and were centered on missionaries from Africa, Japan, the
Muslim outreach in Asia, Medical Missions, Adoption and Foster Care, and For Missionary Kids.  Children’s Missions conference focused on “Missionary Journeys: Until They All Hear”.  At 6:30pm, a Worship service began with Peculiar People performing, and then testimonies were heard from Debbie Richards, The Rockwell’s, and Bobby and Helen W. prior to Pastor John Wood preaching on "The Global Dimension of Mission: Groaning for Glory" (Romans 8:18-27).

During Sunday morning worship at 9:00am, testimonies were heard from the Barber’s and Kimberly Tipton. Missionaries were present in each Sunday School class to discuss
individual mission’s projects in detail, and answer questions.  During the 11:00am worship service, testimonies were heard from the Mackey’s and the Griffith’s.  The Griffith’s are members of Mitchell Road, have four children, and are in process of raising support to begin serving in Kenya.  Our prayers are with their family during this exciting and challenging time.
The Sunday morning sermon focused on:"The Divine Dimension of Mission: If God Is for Us" (Romans 8:28-39). On Sunday evening, testimonies were heard from the Inoue’s and the Nicholson’s. Children’s Missions Conference focused on “Going and Telling”.   Sunday evening’s message was The Mysterious Dimension of Mission: Who Has Known the Mind of the Lord?" (Selections from Romans 9-11)

Throughout the weekend, Pastor Wood challenged us to give more money to missions, and inspired us in our role as missionaries in our own personal lives.  We are on mission at all times.  This leaves us to ponder, what is our mission with God? How may we serve in our community to honor and glorify the King of Kings?  There is much to celebrate in 2012, and so many to pray for, as we prepare our hearts for the work ahead this year, and for next years’ Missions Conference.
