Revelation
As we embark on a study in the book of Revelation we need not fear! The last and great book of the Bible is often characterized by bad interpretation, scary creatures and false predictions. This is unfortunate because it has led many in the church to avoid reading Revelation completely. But we need this book desperately in our lives. It is the final coda to the song of the Lamb who was slain. It teaches us that things in this world are not what they appear. It gives us confidence that Christ holds the keys of death and life that he is at the center of our worship. Revelation doesn't look forward as much as it does to the past. Its constant refrain is that the sacrifice of Christ is sufficient for us today regardless or the tribulation, doubts or pains of life. Without the book of Revelation our walk with Christ can become shallow and timid. With the study of Revelation we have the confidence of being "overcomers" because it is Christ our King who has come and is coming again.
