Bob Caldwell - Missions and Outreach

Bob Caldwell, Director of Missions and Outreach, has an exciting and ever-changing position at Mitchell Road, which is at the heart of our “Commitment to Christ’s Work in the World”. Bob began his ministry at Mitchell Road as a youth pastor from 1971-1979, and after participating in various mission trips with Mitchell Road, Bob was invited to rejoin our staff in 2007 as Director of Missions and Outreach.
Bob’s enthusiasm for the Missions and Outreach program is contagious! Ask Bob what makes his ministry unique and he will passionately tell you that his ministry brings together 75 missionaries and 1500 church members in educating and encouraging our congregation with God’s heart for the world. Educational opportunities often take the form of weekly power point presentations from missionaries, our annual Missions Conference, and many annual short term mission trips that engage over 100 community members. Additionally, our community supports missionaries in many ways, including finances and prayer. The Missions and Outreach ministry is not only a steward of more that a half a million dollars each year - our church community has directed many of our church families toward full time missions work.
Annually, around February, Mitchell Road hosts a Missions Conference. The conference will join 20 missionary families in fellowship with around 300 Mitchell Road families. It’s a large project that inspires our community toward love and good deeds. It’s no surprise Hebrews 10:24 is Bob’s favorite scripture. To Bob, working in the missions industry is a privilege. He personally witnesses the life-changing experiences of those that participate in short-term missions trips, especially for the first time.
Bob is married to Jane, and they have been active members of our congregation for over 40 years! Bob and Jane love to travel and experience different cultures. It’s exciting to see the Missions and Outreach ministry woven through all our ministry departments within the church, and Bob’s heart for missions takes the form of joyful thanksgiving that radiates to all.
